Leave trees at bridge alone

I am responding to the article in last week's Leader about cutting down the spruce trees around the Winnipeg River Bridge because of being ordered to do so by the province as a result of a complaint by a local farmer.
As there seem to be a number of people that are concerned about the removal of the spruce trees, I am concerned that as a result of one complaint the province is so ready to remove these beautiful trees. I have been driving over that bridge for over 20 years and those trees have certainly not obstructed my view, but along with the rest of scenery in this lovely area are peaceful and eye-catching.
The farmer in question must be a very powerful person to have the province "jump-to" as a result of one complaint. I think their fear about a possible lawsuit has blinded them to the fact that this is just one person's opinion, and I think before the RM of Lac du Bonnet "jumps-to" the order from the province, they should consider the opinions of other people.
I think the Historical Society has a point when they say "slow down" and the visibility over the bridge would be safer and more effective. I have driven over the bridge slower and faster and those trees have never impeded my view.
