North Eastman Health Association (NEHA) Chief Executive Officer Jim Hayes has resigned, the regional health authority announced on Wednesday.
In a statement, NEHA board chair Margaret Mills says Hayes will be leaving the organization, but did not specify exactly when.
Mills says Hayes "will be pursuing other career interests." A message left on Hayes' answering machine was not returned prior to press time.
Hayes has been with NEHA for a decade. He oversaw countless projects in the region over the years, including upgrades to hospitals in Pinawa and Powerview-Pine Falls.
He was often the target of controversy as well, especially in recent months when a NEHA plan to shut down the Pinawa and Lac du Bonnet ambulance bays and merge them was accidentally made public on the health authority's website.
The plan was later abandoned and Hayes formally apologized.
